A venerable novelist, recipient of the Pulitzer Prize, awaits word on the critical reaction to his latest book.  When the daughter of friends, hoping to be a writer, comes to work as his assistant, he quickly discovers that she has a talent – and a talent for operating in the fraught, explosive climate of current gender relations – that could well eclipse his own. Setting aside his own work, he devotes himself to helping her finish her book.
