One of the third generation in a family of New England writers, directors and musicians, Anastasia Barnes turned to professional acting in 2000, after several years as a singer and songwriter of gospel, blues and rock. After landing roles in a number of independent films, and several leading roles in the Boston theater, she relocated to New York, where she has starred in off-off Broadway productions at the Sande Shurin Theater and the Vital Signs Festival at the Vital Signs Theater.
