AMERICAN WAKE is Maureen Foley’s second feature film. Her debut feature, “Home Before Dark,” was named Best American Independent Film at the 1997 Hamptons International Film Festival, winning the Grand Jury Prize. It appeared at various other festivals including Vancouver, The International Festival of Women’s Cinema, and the Nantucket Film Festival. Hailed by critics as “…Literate, low-key and quietly powerful…”, it was acclaimed in Variety, the New York Times, the Boston Glove and numerous other media outlets. In the US, it was exhibited theatrically and has aired on Showtime, Lifetime, and PBS. Its television rights were licensed to over forty countries.

Foley is set to direct the film “Criminals,” which she adapted for the screen from the novel of the same name by Margot Livesey. The movie will be produced by London’s Arcane Pictures, and is scheduled for a late 2004 start date on location in Scotland.

She is also preparing to direct “The Mentor,” which she adapted from the novel by Sebastian Stuart.

Lucia Small

Over the past fifteen years, Lucia Small has accumulated an impressive list of credits ranging from co-producer of several nationally-televised programs to award-winning documentarian. Producing credits include “The Mississippi: River of Song,” a 4-part PBS series; Laurel Chiten's highly acclaimed film “The Jew in the Lotus,” (PBS); and Beth Harrington's award-winning film “The Blinking Madonna and Other Miracles,” (PBS). Additionally, Small helped produce Laurel Greenberg's independent film “94 Years and 1 Nursing Home Later.” She has worked for USA Cable, C-SPAN, Media One and on various feature films including MGM's “What's The Worst That Could Happen,” and the PBS drama “The Blue Diner.”

Her debut feature, “My Father, The Genius,” garnered several top film festival awards, including Grand Jury Prizes for Best Documentary and Best Editing at the 2002 Slamdance Film Festival. In 2003, her film was broadcast and featured as part of Sundance Channel's newly launched DOCday series. She has also directed video shorts, including a piece entitled “You've Got a Friend,” and “Boston Can,” an award winning entry on PBS in Spring 1994. Small was named “Best Local Filmmaker” in 2002 as part of Boston Magazine's annual “Best of Boston” Awards.

“American Wake” is the first narrative feature co-produced by her company, small angst films.

Bill Haney's first feature production, "A Question of Faith," debuted at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival. More recently, he directed and produced the documentary "Gift of the Game" which aired nationally on PBS and is currently directing the feature documentaries "Racing Against the Clock" and "A Passion for the Wild." In addition, he is producing three feature films: "La Tempesta," "Crusade in Jeans," and "The World According to Janis" (Joplin), starring the singer Pink.
